| Key Features
The ONYX is a completely
standalone (self driven) automatic CD duplicator with a 100-disc
capacity, supporting up to four 16X TrueCopy drives and a front loading
CD-ROM drive.
Fully Enclosed
& Self-contained
Completely enclosed for dust-free
operation and easy setup and alignment is not necessary once setup.
Standalone or
Software Driven switchable
The ONYX functions with or without
a computer. The SCSI bus is internally switched so that by
itself ONYX functions as a standalone unit completely free from PC, or
when connected to a PC it turns into a pre-mastering station allowing greater
flexibility for contents creation.
Multi-drive
Batch Copy
In a small-run duplication, often
there is a need to duplicate small quantities of many master CDs. The Discmatic
ONYX is capable of using multiple CD-RW drives to copy multiple masters
in one operation. A simple stack method (master followed by blanks followed
by another master and blanks and so on) allows multiple master CD duplication
in a single unattended session. Batch copying can be done easily and effortlessly
with a single touch of key.
TrueCopy System
Technology™
The new TrueCopy System Technology
in ONYX brings many important new features specifically targeting the CD-RW
duplication market. No other recorder/duplicator combination provides
a more comprehensive feature set for professional audio or data CD-RW reproduction.
All TAO/SAO/DAO data formats are supported. For audio professionals,
TrueCopy recorders write frame accurate full Red Book compliant copies
that include often missed but important details such as UPC, ISRC and sub
codes. These features combined with TrueSound™ audio QA provide the best
audio copies available today (click here to read
more about all TrueCopy System Technology).
Async
Copy Technology
Traditionally, all drives in a given
duplicator received the data at the same time and therefore the copying
began and ended simultaneously across all drives. A unique technology
called Async Copying allows the copy
process on the individual CD-RW drive to begin immediately after receiving
the blank disc. This is because the internal multi-threaded program
in the ONYX can talk to each installed CD-RW drive indivisually, creating
a discrete streams of data. Using Async Copying on a 120MB
master, the ONYX can copy 100 discs in 1 hour. If one drive
fails, the copy will continue. The result is a highly efficient and reliable
automated duplicator.
Multiple CD
Image Storage
With a 15GB internal hard disk drive
the Discmatic ONYX stores and manages multiple CD images with ease. The
functions include loading, deleting, renaming and un-deleting CD images,
as well as hard disk management. Also, frequently used CD images can be
stored, eliminating the need to repeatedly acquire and read the master
CD.
Audio Compilation
Creating audio compilation CDs has
never been easier with ONYX. Now you can create audio CD images by extracting
audio tracks from any master CDs. Pre-gaps can be specified during the
image creation. Once a master image has been created it can be duplicated
by a simple copy operation.
Dedicated Front
Loading CD-ROM Bay
The ONYX has a front loading bay
for installing a CD-ROM drive dedicated for reading master discs. The convenience
of having the front loading CD-ROM reader is evident during operations
such as Audio Compilation, CD to CD Copying and storing master images.
The internal CD-RW drives will be used only for writing except in the Batch
Copy operation.
Unique Side
Pickup System
Among the innovative design is the
patent-pending ONYX proprietary pickup system. The unique precision autoloading
mechanism picks up each disc by the rim rather than the center hole avoiding
contacts with all recordable and printable areas. The also design allows
for both input and output discs to be carried on spindles rather than disc
holders.
Real-time Status
& Information
The Discmatic ONYX has a large backlit
LCD display that offers superb readability. Its triangle 6-key keypad formation
(UP/DOWN, YES/NO, GO/STOP) is simple and intuitive to use. The display
on the ONYX shows detailed information on the progress and status of duplication
in real-time so the user knows precisely what ONYX is doing at any given
moment. These and other ONYX designs make the duplication operation as
easy as using a copy machine.
Password Protection
In any duplication one must be careful
what is being copied and who is making those copies. With ONYX, you can
set a user password to prevent unauthorized duplication to ensure proper
operation. You can also set a separate system password for changing
setup configuration.
Firmware Upgrade
Both the system and drive firmware
in the Discmatic ONYX can be quickly upgraded via the firmware CD by downloading
the firmware file from this web site. The firmware CD is also available
through Discmatic or an authorized reseller.
